French travelers to the Levant during the 19th century contributed to providing abundant scientific material about the region. They detailed and scrutinized all its features, especially those related to the social aspect. They provided researchers with a fertile base that enabled them to write part of the region’s history with a new vision, which is the vision of the other, through which they could establish A local history with multiple opinions, through which comparisons and analyses can be made that allow us to reach historical knowledge that is close to the truth. Through this research, we will present the structure of Levantine society, which was greatly distinguished from other societies of the period by its mosaic composition: numerous categories with varied characteristics that, despite this, merged into a single template united by peaceful coexistence
