Newspaper and its Significance in Society: An Overview of the Indian Scenario

The newspaper is the oldest form of mass media still in existence and plays a significant role in our society. A newspaper is a publication that publishes news and information to inform, instruct, and educate society about the latest issues. It is considered a mirror of society, reflecting the social environment through its news and various forms of articles. The newspaper is also considered a fourth pillar of democracy, as its role in democratic society is enormous and significant. However, the article entitled ‘Newspaper and its Significance in Society: An Overview of the Indian Scenario’ seeks to examine the relevance and significance of newspapers in a democratic society, with a special focus on the Indian context. The article also highlights the transformation of the newspaper from print to digital and describes challenges and limitations in contrast.
